Shape Assignment And Diptych & Triptych
This picture fits with the shape assignment because of the circular, radial, and organic form of the plants, and the symmetry of the whole scene. The plant expands outward in a radial fashion, like rays. The green bushes are like stars separated by the red ground. They are points of activity and life in an empty flat expanse of dead leaves and dirt.
The two trees in this picture are opposites, one is full and thick, the other skeletal and eerie. The picture displays asymmetry, in both practical and symbolic terms. I chose to make it black and white so the colors would not distract from the shapes. I think it has a very mysterious and malign undertone.
These pictures fit together and also contrast each other. They have opposite colors, which makes them different, but they share a common pattern. The blue from the left photo makes it cooler and more calm, where as the orange from the right picture is a lively color. The right picture shows the detail of the individual pieces, where as the left picture shows the unity of the entire pattern.
This triptych is the same subject but each from a different perspectives. The first shows the whole scene at a distance, the second showing only the bridge, without the ground below. The final picture is only the two top portions of the bridge, shooting upward into the sky. This combination of photos helps to show the immensity and height of the gigantic metal structure.
